Coffee Prices 2024

Dear Customer,

Price Increase - Coffee

This is an advanced warning that we will be increasing the price of some of our coffees on the 21st of October 2024.

Since January we have faced steady rises in the price of Robusta coffee stocks and they have now reached record high levels, double the price of twelve months ago with no end in sight. This rise is mainly being driven by forecasts of dramatically lower yields in Vietnam, the world’s largest producer of Robusta (and the second largest coffee exporter in the world). The forecast for the 2024/25 crop is the lowest for thirteen years, a situation brought about by adverse weather and farmers switching their production from coffee to more profitable alternatives.

We are now faced with the situation where Robusta coffee is costing approximately the same as Arabica beans, where traditionally it would be at least 30-40% cheaper. Unfortunately, the other effect of this rise is that roasters and wholesalers are switching away from Robusta, thus putting price pressure on Arabica stocks which are increasing too, albeit at a slower rate.

Inevitably this has led to a situation where we cannot absorb any further rises in our base costs and we have to pass some of these increases on. Consequently, we will be raising the price of all Robusta-containing blends on the 21st of October and will also be discontinuing our Latina Blend, Morning Choice & Ethiopian Sidamo which are predominantly Robusta based as they are no longer economically viable.

Effected Coffees are:-

Espresso Blends

  • Real
  • Reale Continental
  • Siena
  • Classico
  • Toscano
  • Roma
  • Monte Carlo

Filter Coffee Blends

  • After Dinner
  • Kenya Blend
  • Brazilian Blend
  • Breakfast Blend
  • Continental
  • Cafe De Paris

At present we are not increasing our 100% Arabica blends but may well have to do so if raw coffee prices continue on their present trajectory, and similarly we cannot rule out further price in the short to medium term. Please be assured that we do not take these actions lightly but have no choice when costs are at such a high level.

Please do not hesitate to contact the main Drury office for further information.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support.

Yours faithfully,

The Drury Tea & Coffee Company Ltd
